The story takes place in 1899, at the turn of the new century. It follows a group of European immigrants who travel from London on a steamer named Kerberos to start a new life in New York City. The passengers are united in optimism about what the future holds until they meet another emigrant ship, the Prometheus. floating in the open sea The hitherto uncomplicated journey to the promised land has turned into a horrifying nightmare of staggering proportions.
