Soul Reapers also serve as a military force that prevents evil clans from controlling the spirit plane. The Millennium Blood War pits the Reaper against another spiritual army known as Quincy. Season 17 kicks off without missing a beat. It introduces Ichigo and his old friends in style, Chad, Ishida, and Orihime, before instantly forming a group of villains as a brutal and bloodthirsty force unlike anything they’ve faced before.
